A film with subject matter such as LoC was always going to be controversial and inevitably there were going to be calls for it to be banned by religious types. It was just a matter of time and as it turns out it was a matter of weeks despite the film having its premier a whole year before the release here in Blighty.
Lords of Chaos is due to be released in the UK on 29 March, but there have been calls for it to be banned over its alleged glamourisation of suicide, self-harm and satanism.
I’m pleased to see the phrase “alleged glamourisation“ because it gives an opportunity for discussion for both ‘sides’ however I’m not going to give my personal opinion, here, I’ll do that under my own name after the film has been released and I review. I will point out that the film has been given an 18 rating by the British Board of Film Classification which states it’s suitable only for adults and that “adults should be free to choose their own entertainment”, meaning that they’ve viewed the film, given it the appropriate rating and said off you go. The release date is confirmed, it’s happening but if people wish to continue in their efforts to have the film banned they are more than welcome to because all it’s doing is drawing more attention to the film, which is what we want!
Ahem, I’m afraid this has to be done … “Are you a Christian, Kristian?” 😉
